Dorothy was right. There really is no place like home. Whether it was at summer camp in the seventh grade or while away at college, we’re all familiar with that ache in the pit of our stomach that can only be filled by familiarity.
Yes, being homesick sucks… but there is something worse.
We’re not just talking about the feeling you get from running a mile or two, or after eating a bag of potato chips. We mean that insatiable desire for something that is so close…yet so far away.
The people of 16th century Munich knew this feeling all too well. They loved their brew, but it had to be brought in from Einbeck, several hundred miles away; and only heightened their desire for something more.
This desire led to the birth of what is now one of the most-famous beer halls in the world. Of course, we are talking about Hofbrauhaus, Munich. The locals demanded better brew, which spawned the idea of a local brewery, and the rest as we say, is history.
If you’ve ever been to Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas or the original in Munich, Germany you may have seen this phrase above an archway: Durst ist schlimmer als Heimweh
Think back to a time when you longed for home. Then think of a time you craved the original flavor of a brew so pure, it could only come from one place.
Thirst is worse, right?
At Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas (or any Hofbrauhaus) you don’t ever have to worry about going thirsty. We keep this saying above our archway as a reminder of a time before our brews quenched the palates and filled the bellies of demanding beer lovers. We never want our patrons to experience the thirst of our predecessors, so you can always count on our taps to flow with the best brews in Las Vegas. Here, the taste you crave is never far away.
